How much does leak detection installation cost for a data center?
Each installation is quoted individually, because the cost depends on how many zones need coverage and how your loop is laid out. A room with one CDU and a short manifold run is a very different job from multiple rack rows with risers and drip trays. What happens during a leak detection installation?
The work runs in four stages: design, install, integrate, and test. First the detection layout is mapped to your actual loop, covering the CDU perimeter, manifold runs, rack rows, drip trays and risers. Then sensing cable and spot detectors go in, the controller is configured, and alarms are routed into your BMS or DCIM. Finally every zone is calibrated and physically wet-tested, and you leave with a zone map, device schedule and test log.
Can leak detection be installed around live racks without downtime?
In most cases, yes, leak detection can be installed around live racks without IT downtime. Sensing cable and spot detectors are low-voltage devices that typically go in around operating equipment without touching the IT load, and installation can be planned zone by zone around your maintenance windows. Wet testing places a small, controlled amount of water directly on the sensor, not on your hardware. Anything that needs a coordinated window, such as tying alarms into your BMS or DCIM, can be identified and scheduled before work starts.
How do I know the leak detection system actually works after installation?
